A bit about me.

I've been blogging for a bit now. Mainly as an aid to revision or to get my thoughts out on issues I feel passionate about or find interesting :). I've never actually said much about me, or my goals outside of being a vet.

I do quite a bit of running as a way to keep fit, feel better and take a break. I started in second year of university, and managed to get up to running about 30 minutes easily and one did three miles! However, in third year this started to go down hill again ( :( ) and now I'm just in the process of building it back up. I generally run every other day or at least three times a week depending on university which is more demanding on my hours. I'm especially happy that its getting lighter in the evenings now as I didn't want to go running in the dark on my own after university, and hey, who wants to pay for the gym when you can run for free! At the moment I'm following the Couch to 5k NHS podcasts clicky. These build you up from scratch to 5k over nine weeks. I'm currently on week five run 2. My next big run is 20 minutes- something I used to be able to do easily but now find slightly scary! I used to be a big short distance runner in high school, so longer distance is harder for me.

Another thing I'm a big fan of is competition obedience. Its not a very well known sport in the UK mainly due to crufts not advertising it as well anymore. It is akin to horse dressage, and requires precise heelwork and movements and tests. Its in the process of going through major changes, which I hope, are for the better, but only time will tell. I've been interested in it since it used to show on the TV with Mary Ray and her dog OB Ch Wood Sorrell Red Wine. Hopefully I can start competing again once I graduate. Hobbies are important to me, so I'm not going to be one of those people where their life becomes their job. I need to find a balance to be happy and I hope I can find this with my first job wherever that may be!
